Are you ready to move away from what you don’t want, and start moving toward what you do want most in life?
One of the key first steps is to clearly identify what it is you want exactly. Then, you can start to develop a step-by-step plan to get what you really want in life.
Most people have it backwards — they design their aspirations around their life, rather than designing their life around their aspirations.
What are the things you absolutely must do before you die?
These are your bucket list items. At this point, it’s not important why you want them. They are yours.
What have you done in life because other people made you feel obligated to do it?
What are the things that you really want to do more than anything?
Whether your bucket list contains crazy or quotidian things is neither here nor there. The point is to get them out of your head and onto paper so you can start taking action to make them reality.
What is it that you really aspire to in life?
A bucket list doesn’t have to be all about jumping out of airplanes, or going on a safari in Africa. You can include everyday things and normal aspirations that you’ve lived your whole life without getting to. If your bucket list includes things you want to do for & with other people, even better.
When we leave too many things on the back burner, we can arrive to our golden years with regrets about all the things we haven’t accomplished. Instead, take baby steps toward just one thing that you’ve always wanted to do.
No one is too old to take action on one thing, a little at a time.
Forming a habit of action, and persistently moving toward our goals and what we really want is essential to a well lived life.
When you begin to take steps to knocking off that first big item from your bucket list, you’ll get a wonderful feeling of accomplishment that will motivate you to keep moving to realize the rest of your bucket list items. As you take pride in realizing your dreams, you’ll be inspired to design the life you truly want.
What has held you back until now, or caused you to procrastinate on getting to your bucket list?
Oftentimes it’s because we feel like the goal is unattainable. And then, the process of realizing it seems overwhelming. Too many people just assume their bucket list items are pipe dreams. But it doesn’t have to be that way.
The secret to getting going on your bucket list is to list them all out, and then pick one that’s actually attainable. When you start with the easiest one, and work toward it intentionally & systematically, you guarantee your own success.
